Video System (TVS)

Telecommunications Video System (TVS) is part of Information Technology. It is an active, creative group involved in the planning and production of multi-media programs and materials for the College. This includes video productions and broadcasts, as well as support and operation of related infrastructure hardware, software and special projects.  TVS is located in MKC-110, behind the staircase in the Moakley Center Atrium. Staffing the facility are Video Support Specialist -- Matthew DeGrechie, Director -- Arthur Slotnick and several student Production Assistants. The staff reports to Technology Systems & Networking Associate Vice President, Patrick Cronin.

Some of the programs developed and/or produced by TVS include: Commonwealth Politics, Distinguished Speaker Series, School Talk, SGA meetings, Hall of Black Achievement honoree video, Canadian Speaker’s Distinguished Series, Children’s Development Clinic Speaker Series, Chairmen’s Dinner featured video, Winter and Spring Commencements, Chinese Distinguished Speaker Series, and Burnology. The staff also produces training videos for the Center for Public School Leadership, Public Service Announcements for the Cape Verdean community, Special Olympics and McADOC (Media Campaign Addressing Drugs On Campus). TVS works closely with the Office for Institutional Advancement, Alumni Affairs, Public Affairs, and Affirmative Action/Minority Affairs and Equal Opportunity in the production of promotional, educational and archival projects. Various programs can be viewed on the Internet, via satellite, through on-air broadcasts covering Rhode Island , Southeastern Massachusetts , the Cape and Islands , as well as on all the Massachusetts Comcast cable communities.

The writing, directing, videography and production values of TVS have been recognized and honored by national and international judging. The staff has received The Aurora, The Communicator, The Telly, and The Videographer Awards.

Members of the campus community can request production assistance from the staff by completing a Pre-Production Proposal.  Bookings should be made as soon as possible. For logistical purposes, please allow at least two weeks notice.

 

TVS also provides:

  • Video encoding
  • Coordination and delivery of satellite downlinks
  • Maintenance and support of satellite dishes and modules
  • Video support and programming for ResNet (Residence Network)
  • Maintenance of the Cable TV head-end and campus video network
  • Programming and updating of BSC Cable channel 98 seen in the Town of Bridgewater
  • Internal consultative resource services
  • Computerized scheduling, loading and maintenance of three dedicated ResLife Cinema Channels
  • Logistical scheduling and content delivery of the academic Digital Delivery System
