VPN Upload/Download Instructions:
Once you have successfully signed in to the VPN, you have the option to download and upload files. You cannot edit a file directly from the VPN, instead you must download the file to your local computer, make any necessary changes, then upload the file back to the network. Please note that you only need to upload the file back to the network if you need access to the file while on campus.
How To Download A File
- Click the file link to campus.bridgew.edu. This will populate a list of all the departmental "G:" drives on campus.
- Select the appropriate link for your departmental drive. You only have the permission to access the departmental folder for which you are a member.
- Next, browse and click the name of the file you want to download. In the File Download dialog box, click Save.
- Next, in the Save As dialog box, browse to the directory on your computer where you want to save the file, enter a name in the File name field, and click Save.
How To Upload A File
- Before uploading the file, you need to navigate to the folder on the VPN to where you want to place the file. Typically this will be a particular directory under your departmental "G:" drive. Start by clicking the campus.bridgew.edu file link on the VPN home screen. Next navigate to the particular directory to where you want to place the file.
- Next, click the Upload Files button to access the upload page.
- On the upload page, click Browse to locate and select the files you want to save on the network. You can upload five files at one time. Once you have selected all the files, click the upload button. The files are uploaded and saved using the names you specified on the Save As fields or the names displayed in your local directory. NOTE: If a file or folder with the same name already exists in the directory and you do not specify a name, the uploaded file is saved with the name: filename.timestamp.ext. To overwrite an existing file or folder, you must enter the name in the Save As field. For example, to overwrite a file named hello.txt, you must enter hello.txt in the Save As field.
- After the file or directory is uploaded, click Close in the Upload Status window.
