The wireless network offers a constant connection to both the college intranet as well as the Internet from any location on campus. Faculty, staff and students of Bridgewater State College are invited to utilize the wireless network.
Access to the wireless network may be achieved through any laptop computer which has an IEEE 802.11 a/b/g WPA / WPA2 compliant wireless network adapter. Adapters may be purchased from any electronics or computer stores. For information on laptops available for purchase that support wireless access please visit the equipment section of this web site. Once the adapter is installed, please see our updated instructions for setting up your wireless connection on how to configure the adapter to operate with the Bridgewater State College wireless network.
Wireless notebooks will not be able to access the network until they have authenticated; (or told the network who they are). The process begins by opening an Internet browser window and being redirected to an authentication page. Once the network username and password is entered, you are then be prompted to download and install the validation client, called Cisco Clean Access.
Once the Cisco Clean Access installation is complete, BSC members will be logged into the network and will keep access for 7 days. If the computer is shut down for more than 20 minutes, you are required to log back in to regain college network access. This new security system will have the computer icon called Clean Access Agent, which will be located in your system tray (this is the area located next to the computer clock). To login and logout, right-click on that icon for complete menu items.
If validation fails, you are redirected to remediation sites. Please note that you must meet the Network Authentication Requirements and have the required software downloaded, installed and running on your computer. Users must keep up with any and all security patches and Windows Updates. This will help keep your computer free of worms and harmful viruses.
