Effective April 2, 2001, ten-digit dialing is required for all local calls within Eastern Massachusetts. When making a local call, you will be required to dial ten digits (area code + 7 digit phone number) to complete the call (ex: 9+508-531-1200). It will be necessary to dial the 1 prior to the area code, when making long distance calls.
