Temporary Role Explanation
Summary:
Description of the restrictions placed onto a machine that has not met security requirements.
Description:
If you attempt to log onto the network, but do not meet the minimum security requirements, your computer will be placed into a Temporary Role. This will limit your network access drastically, protecting the rest of campus from potential security problems on your machine. Once your machine has met the security requirements and has been verified as safe, all network restrictions will be removed and you may access the network normally.
Q: The Cisco Clean Access Agent says I have "Temporary Access." What does that mean?
The Cisco Clean Access Agent will allow you "Temporary Access" if it detects that your PC does not meet the minimum security standards. The agent will give you a link to a webpage that will describe why you did not meet the requirements, and will contain instructions on what needs to be done. Until the security requirements are met, your PC will NOT have full access to the network.
What restrictions will be in place when my PC is in a Temporary Role?
Exceptions: websites and online services you will always have access to, even in Temporary Role.
