CCA Home > Antivirus Software Validation Failure

Problem: Antivirus software was not detected on your computer.

Summary: Instructions on how to download and install Microsoft Forefront Antivirus.

Description: Antivirus software is required to be installed and running on all computers in order to gain internet access. If the Clean Access Agent fails to detect qualifying AntiVirus software you'll be prompted to install Microsoft Forefront antivirus.

You are currently being placed in a Temporary Role with limited network access to perform the necessary updates. Depending on which updates are missing, you may be required to perform several reboots.

Q: What can happen if my system is not protected?
A: Viruses can do a wide range of things. They can be harmless and simply pass around annoying messages, or they can be very destructive and wipe out all of your data. Most of the time when there is a problem with access to the internet, it is because of an infected PC attacking a system on the Internet, thus blocking legitimate internet access. Following this guide will help reduce the number of infected PCs and related problems.

Q: How much does Antivirus software cost?
A: Nothing. Microsoft Forefront Antivirus is provided free of charge to all current Bridgewater State College faculty, staff and students. Thus, Microsoft Forefront is the only antivirus software supported by Bridgewater State College's Support Services.

Q: What is considered "Qualifying AntiVirus" software?
A: Qualifying antivirus software is software that the Cisco Clean Access Agent can detect, however, Bridgewater State College can only provide support for Microsoft Forefront antivirus.
