To improve network security for everyone in the Bridgewater State University community, BSU implemented network authentication requirements. These security requirements help keep computers, both laptops and desktops, more secure. In the past, BSU, like most Universities, felt the impact of many major viruses. This resulted in wide-spread network outages. The network authentication requirements will help prevent such attacks by denying unsecure computers access to the network.
These network authentication requirements are designed to supplement, not change, the continuing need for students, faculty, and staff to protect their personal computers from virus attacks, spread by e-mail, spyware, or other method. Please see the Be Security Conscious website for more information on safe computing practices.
BSU scans computers solely to verify compliance with the following network requirements to protect all computers accessing the BSU network. We do not collect any personal information when we scan computers and do not look at history of internet usage or the contents of any personal files on the computers.
