All students (full time and part time) can claim a user account on campus. This user account will enable the user to access public computers in any computing lab on campus, along with giving you access to your own personal email account and the library search databases from off-campus.

Instructions

1. Read and accept the terms for BSU's Responsible Use Policy.
2. Once you agree to the end-user agreement, you will be prompted to enter your student ID, First Name and Last Name. Your student ID is your 8-digit Banner ID provided to you at registration.

At this point you will encounter one of two things:

1. You will be given a prompt to create a password for your new account. Choose a password that meets the following criteria:

   • Eight characters minimum
   • Can not contain your username
   • Must include at least three of the following four character groups:

     • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
     • English lowercase characters (a through z)
     • Numerals (0 through 9)
     • Non-alphabetic characters (such as !, $, #, %)

    You must enter this new password two times to confirm it. After you are finished entering your password, click the Submit button.

   Another screen will appear that will assign you a username to use on the network. This is the username you will use for all online college resources except InfoBear.

2. Another outcome you may receive is an error message that reads:

    ERROR! There are no records matching the given Student Identification

   This error usually means:

   • You are not an undergraduate student who has been formally accepted into a degree program
   • You are not a graduate student who is enrolled in a graduate degree program
   • You are not a student who has a completed application for admission into a graduate degree program
   • You are not currently enrolled in any courses
   • Your account was activated before today

If these do not apply to you, please call IT Support Services at 508.531.2555 (on campus, just dial 2555) or stop by in Room 130C in the Moakley Center.

Once you have created a BSU User Account you can claim a Blackboard account.

1. In the last line of the screen providing your User Name there will be a link that says Click Here. When you click on the link it will take you to the screen to create a Blackboard account.
2. You will be prompted to enter your username and password created in the previous step.
3. The Blackboard account will be available the following business day.
