The Commonwealth’s Executive and Legislative Branches have recognized the importance of cyber security and the efforts of the Be Security Conscious awareness program at BridgewaterState College. Each have issued supporting pronouncements (proclamation/citations).

All college employees and students are invited to the Be Security Conscious Expo at the MoakleyCenter this Thursday (10/26/06) between 10am – 2pm.

College police will electronically engrave your tech property (notebook computer, gaming device, etc.) for free. They will also discuss growing concerns and dangers of purposely putting personal information and photos on sites for others to see. IT staffers will provide demonstrations and answer questions.

Presentations will be made in the Moakley Auditorium by the Bridgewater DARE officer, the Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney and a Special Agent of the FBI. All are welcome to attend. The general session is at 12:30pm. Next is a program for 4 th, 5 th and 6 th graders, as well as parents, grandparents, older brothers and sisters at 1:15pm. The last session will be at 1:45pm, and will address providing cyber protection for young people at home.

Free food and giveaways are also part of the expo. Be sure to bring your Connect Card (college ID) to be eligible for some of the fun prizes. You will be automatically entered in our raffle by having your card scanned at the main desk. Come dressed in your favorite spyWEAR could also earn you a really nice prize. All selected entries and best dressed will be listed on our website (http://it.bridgew.edu/security/) a week from Friday.
