What do Slingbox and an autographed Mo Vaughn baseball have in common? They are some of the over 100 prizes to be awarded or given away at the second annual cyber security awareness campaign known as Be Security Conscious on Thursday, October 26 from 10 am 2 pm at the Moakley Center.
The effort is sponsored by our campus IT division, and staff will be present to answer questions on virus and spyware protection, as well as offer insights on the importance of creating and using effective passwords. The ResNet group in conjunction with RUCKUS will provide safe and legal options for the free downloading of music on campus.
The BSC police will provide free engraving of notebook computers and warnings of the dangers of posting personal information on the internet. Presentations will also be provided by the Bridgewater Police, the FBI and the Plymouth County District Attorneys Office at 12:30 pm. A special program will be presented to 4th, 5th and 6th graders and their parents and other interested people from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm. Immediately afterwards an open forum for questions and answer will take place.
Be Security Conscious Expo II is open to all the BSC community. Offices and classes are encouraged to attend this event. In addition to free food and giveaways, there will be prizes given through raffle drawings as well as awarded for the best dressed/creative spyWEAR. Come as your favorite spy and you may be rewarded! To be eligible for the raffle and/or the best spyWEAR you must have your Connect Card scanned. A list of all the winners and photos from the day will be published on our site (http://it.bridgew.edu/security/) the following week.
