Our Mission:

The role of the Information Technology Division is to advance the mission of the college by delivering best-of-class information technology systems and services to BSC students, faculty, staff, and departments. With a wide range of sophisticated technological services, the division promotes quality education and instructional innovation, and builds effective and convenient business and information services.

Information Technology (IT) Departments:

The Information Technology (IT) Division is responsible for planning, delivering, operating, and maintaining all computer, telecommunication, media and data administration resources for the college. The division provides technical services and support to students, employees, and departments with computing, voice and data communications, and media technology. The Information Technology Division actively supports and encourages the effective use of technology in the BSC community.

College Information Systems Technology Systems and Networking IT Support Services

College Information Systems is comprised of three teams which collectively provide a full range of assistance supporting the college's core business systems and web-based services.

The Administrative Systems team provides central computing support for most of the mission-critical business systems on campus including the Student Information System, Financial and HR Systems, Alumni/Development, campus commerce, and many software systems. The Administrative Systems team also provides analysis, design, and system development for campus business-related systems.

The Web Development Team is responsible for creating, managing and developing the college's Web site (www.bridgew.edu).

The Teaching and Technology Center provides faculty training with creating Web resources and assists faculty in using technology in teaching and learning.

Technology Systems and Networking provides support for college-owned computers and peripherals, operating system software, centralized servers and minicomputers, campus telephone systems, data and cable TV transmissions, the video network, and the associated cable plant to the BSC community.

This department is responsible for network services such as email, shared network folders and applications, and network printing. Included in this department are the Systems group, the Moakley Center Television Studio, and the Networking group, which includes Telecommunications, and ResNet, the Residential Network.

IT Support Services, the newly-formed department consisting of the former User Support & Academic Services and the former Desktop Services departments, provides technology support for faculty, staff and students. The department provides technical support in the computer labs, classrooms, technical support for faculty and administration offices, student technology workshops, notebook computing centers, call center operations, audiovisual equipment, and academic support for conference and events on campus.

Computer support is provided for college-owned computers and peripherals, the operating systems software, and the MS Office Professional Suite. The department leases, purchases, configures, installs, repairs, maintains, and retires all computer equipment and peripherals such as printers and scanners. The supported operating systems include Windows 2000 Professional, XP Professional, and MAC OSX.
